Trying Out Boddle Learning

Our First Impressions

As a homeschooling parent, I’m always curious about resources that make learning fun. Worksheets and flashcards have their place, but my daughter is much more engaged when there’s a game involved. Recently, we started exploring Boddle Learning, a gamified platform that covers Math, English/ELA, and Science for grades K–6.

Boddle Learning is an online platform (available on Apple, Android, and PC) that turns schoolwork into a game. Kids move through colorful worlds where they battle enemies, collect gems, and hatch pets — and the catch is, before they can make their next move, they have to answer academic questions.

It’s designed to make practice feel like play, while giving parents tools to track progress.

Features My Kid Love

Avatars: You can choose colors, eye shapes, facial expressions, and even buy clothes using the coins they earn in the game.

Pets: You can hatch new pets, level them up, and use them in battles. This is hands-down my kids’ favorite feature.

Log-In Rewards & Weekly Challenges: Each day, there are rewards for logging in, plus rotating weekly challenges. My kids love checking in to see what’s new and collecting the bonuses — it adds a little excitement to regular practice.

Quizzes: Quizzes are sets of back-to-back questions. I like that Boddle will read both questions and answers aloud for non-readers, making it accessible for younger kids.

Multiplayer World: There’s a shared world where kids can play with others. We haven’t fully figured it out yet, but it seems like a fun social layer.

Gameplay: How It Works

From what we’ve come across so far, most of the gameplay happens in a battle mode:

  • Kids match gems in a line (as long as they touch) to power up their pets.
  • Pets then attack the “bad guys.”
  • Before the next turn, kids must answer a subject question — math, ELA, or science.

This cycle keeps them motivated to keep answering correctly so they can keep playing.

Parent Tools

Boddle isn’t just a game — it has a parent dashboard where you can:

  • Track your child’s progress across subjects.
  • See where they’re struggling or excelling.
  • Assign lessons or quizzes for them to complete.

This balance of fun for kids and structure for parents makes it more useful than a standalone math or reading app.

Pricing (as of September 2025)

Boddle Learning offers both free and paid plans:

  • Free Plan: Access to the game, core subjects, and basic parent tracking.
  • Premium Plan: $10/month or $69.99/year (about $5.83/month, billed yearly). The yearly plan is advertised as 42% off vs. monthly. Additional plans for siblings receive an extra 25% off.
  • School/Classroom Plans: Available separately for educators.

Compared to other homeschool subscriptions, the pricing is pretty reasonable — especially if you opt for the yearly plan.

What I Don’t Love (So Far)

While I love the concept and the price point, there’s one major drawback: loading issues.

  • On PC, Android, and iPad, the game can take forever to load.
  • Sometimes it doesn’t load at all, which is extra frustrating when you’re just trying to squeeze in a quick session.
  • Even while writing this review and attempting to grab screenshots, I couldn’t get the game to open at times.

For busy homeschool families, reliability matters — and this is the one thing that could keep me from fully relying on Boddle.

First Takeaway

Boddle Learning has a lot of promise. The pets, quizzes, and gamified battles are fun and keep kids engaged. The parent dashboard is a big plus, and the pricing is very family-friendly.

That said, the loading issues are a real pain point. If Boddle can improve reliability, it would be an easy “yes” as a homeschool supplement. For now, we’ll keep exploring it as a fun add-on for math, ELA, and science practice — but I’ll report back after we’ve used it longer.

Have you tried Boddle Learning in your homeschool? I’d love to hear your thoughts and whether your kids enjoy it as much as mine.
